illuciid is the moniker of Ryan Spencer Smith. From a young age, Ryan had a passion for creating sounds. He found his calling as a music producer, sound designer and DJ at the age of 14 when he fell in love with alternative electronic music. This discovery led to a relentless pursuit of knowledge about music and the effect it had on him.

 

Over the next 7 years, illuciid developed into an experienced artist creating music that draws influences from all genres. He has a deep appreciation for the evolution of music technology and how it has broken every musical boundary. Several of illuciid’s original songs have been recognized by internationally acclaimed producer/DJ deadmau5 on livestream. Additionally, his music has been cosigned by deadmau5’s label, mau5trap records.

 

In 2016, Ryan was accepted into Drexel University’s Music Industry & Technology Program and studied with Grammy-award winning faculty.  In the summer of 2018, he also began working at The Penthouse Recording Studios in Times Square, NY.  During this experience, Ryan produced and engineered many in-house projects and assisted sessions for charting artists (Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Tjay, 2 Chainz, Smokepurpp, Lil Xan, G Herbo & Lil Skies).  From 2018-2019 illuciid began performing while harnessing the advantages of Ableton Live 10, continued commuting to New York on the weekends to work at The Penthouse while completing his music industry studies in Philadelphia.  In 2020, Ryan graduated Cum Laude from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree.  An experienced Pro Tools, Logic Pro and Ableton Live user, illuciid uses cutting edge monitoring tools and MIDI technology to shape music with precision.  His education and experience have shaped him into a proficient and prolific composer/producer/audio engineer/sound designer for all media platforms including radio, television, film, commercials and video games.
